25/4/24: the All Ireland Schools Competitions were held today at the National Sports Campus, Dublin and the Munster schools teams entered acquitted themselves very well. In the Primary Girls Schools Competition, Scoil Iosagain, Aghada, Co Cork, finished third, while in the Primary Boys Schools Competition Ballinora NS, Co Cork, also finished third. In the Secondary Schools event Ennis Community College, Co Clare, finished second in both the U/13 Boys and Girls events and third in the U/15 Boys event. Congrats to all the players, coaches and school staff for such fine performances.






14/4/24: the results of the Inter Provincial Championships held this weekend in Dublin are enough to give us hope for the future. We entered teams in the Senior Section with mixed Seniors, mixed Veterans and mixed Para teams, all of whom finished third behind Ulster and Leinster. In the Junior Section our very young and relatively inexperienced players competed in the U/13s Boys and Girls and the U/15 Boys finishing a creditable third place in each category. However, we are delighted to report that Munster won the shirt competition – again! The Executive Committee of Munster Table Tennis would like to heartily congratulate and thank the players and the coaches for their efforts over the weekend. 07/4/24: we held a training camp today for the players selected to represent Munster in the TTI Inter Provincial Championships next weekend. The selections are below.

21/3/24: over a hundred primary schools students competed in the Munster Primary Schools Championships for 2024 in Knocknaheeney today. The Championships included a qualifier section for the All Ireland Primary Schools Championships, which will be held in Dublin on 25 April. Congratulations to both Ballinora NS (Boys Schools Qualifier) and Scoil Iosagain, Aghada (Girls Schools Qualifier) for qualifying to advance to the All Ireland Primary Schools Championships.



20/3/24: Congratulations to Caoimhe Deane, Leeside, for her selection on the TTI Senior Schools team for the upcoming Six Nations Senior Schools Competition in the isle of Man in June.

11/3/24: Jing Yi Graham, TTI WIS & Participation Lead Coach, with help from our own coach Gemma Nesdale, is visiting Cork City to deliver the Ping Pong Art Programme – She Moves Campaign in the Christ the King and Regina Mundi secondary schools this week. The Programme, which is aimed at girls aged between 12 and 18, offers an unique opportunity to participants to combine the skills of art with the sport of table tennis and have fun at the same time!




07/03/24: as apart of our celebration of International Women’s Week we held a couple of Women In Sport events today at Knocknaheeny, Cork City – a session for female students attending the Terence MacSwiney Community College and the first of six sessions of a WIS Programme run in partnership with Cork Sports Partnership.



05/03/24: coach Gary Mahoney completed an Activators Award course at Colaiste Mhuire, Askeaton, Co Limerick as part of the Askeaton three sport hub project.

28/01/2024: Great news on the international front for Munster Table Tennis with the selection of, first, Samanta Pusinskate of Leeside TTC for the TTI team at the Six Nations Primary Schools International in Jersey 5-7 April and second, the selection of Aoife Kelly, Patrick Sweeney, Kevin O’Callaghan and Patrick McCormick of Beech Hill TTC for the TTI Para Development Team competing in the Malmo Parasport Event 9-11 February. These selections were confirmed at the Munster Training Camp in Cork today.

01/12/23: Munster TT were delighted to welcome Table Tennis Ireland’s Women In Sport Lead and performance coach, Jing Yi Graham, to Cork this week to coach at the Beech Hill- Leeside clubs’ session on Wednesday last and in a number of primary schools in the South Lee area of Cork City on Thursday and Friday last. Munster TT is looking to promote Women In Sport at the Munster Open in January 2024 – watch this space!

16/11/23: our first Invitational Primary Schools Competition of the new season took place in Cork today with 78 pupils competing. A very enjoyable competition and we look forward to more competitions in February and March 2024.




14/11/23: The 2024 Munster TT Open will take place in the Munster Technological University, Bishopstown, Cork City – Eircode T12ERXO – on 13/14 January. Full competition details will be issued shortly. Munster TT have been given a discounted room rate by the RadissonBlu Hotel, Little island, Cork City – Eircode T45WF53 – for a group booking of over 10 rooms and 40 rooms have been reserved. 12/11/23: The final day of the Munster TT Level 1 Coaching Course was completed by 7 people at the Terence MacSwiney Sports Hall, Cork today. Thanks to Conn Higgins, coach tutor with TTI, for running the course.



23/10/23: Munster TT coach, Gary Mahoney, has been coaching the Men’s Shed group in the Rock Community Centre, Shandon St, Cork City for the last four weeks.

21/10/23: Munster TT held a great training camp for the Munster TT Para Squad in Cork, coached by Ben Haufghton – thanks Ben!



30/9/23: Munster TT is supporting the Open Day in Askeaton, Co Limerick for a new three sport hub in St Mary’s Secondary School/Colaiste Mhuire, Askeaton. Coaches will be present to provide an introduction to table tennis for attendees.

23/9/23: Munster TT was happy to support the first Munster Special Olympics table tennis league event for the 23/24 season in Knocknaheeny, Cork. Players from four clubs took part – Beech Hill, Co-Action West Cork, South Tipperary Tigers and Waterford SO.

10/9/23: Day 1 of the Munster TT Level 1 Coaching Course was held in Knocknaheeny today. The coach tutor was Conn Higgins and it was a very positive and enjoyable experience for all 10 participants. The participants will now have to complete three training sessions at their clubs,schools or services and an on-line questionnaire before coming back for a second day in November.

Munster Table Tennis in the Community Again! We ran a coaching session for twenty 11-13 year olds in the Glen Resource Centre this week in support of the Cork Prison Educational Service Outreach Programme. More to follow on the 26th as well.


Summer Camp 10 – 14 July
Munster TT ran a very enjoyable training camp in Cork with 16 participants. A big shout out to our coaches, Ben Haughton and Gary Mahoney!


Munster TT in the Community:
Munster TT are running four sessions in the Farranree Community Centre for senior citizens during July. Great fun for all ages with table tennis!


International Competitions:
Munster Table tennis are delighted to highlight the involvement of the Loughnane brothers from the South Coast TT Club in two international events this weekend. Elder brother Ben is playing for Ireland in the U/18 boys event in the Senior Schools Championships in Galway, while Sean is off to Prague to compete for Ireland in the U/17 boys competition in the Prague Grand prix. Coaches Thuy Linh Cashman, Paddy Vaughan – in Galway – and Alan Hurley, Conn Higgins – in Prague – are travelling also to support the Irish teams. Best of luck to all!

Munster Table Tennis hosted a training session for the National Para Development Squad in Cork on Sunday 18th June.

Another Primary Schools Invitational Event was run on 8 June in Cork with 80 players in attendance.



Congrats to Philip Shaw of Beech Hill TTC who has been awarded the TTI Volunteer of the Year for the 2022/23 season.

Kinsale Win the U/13 Boys title in table tennis in the National Community Games in Meath on 28 May. Representing Munster the boys defeated Leinster in the semi-finals and Connacht in the final. The Kinsale players are with the South Coast Club. Well done lads.
